He was married to Clara Leonard Chew (daughter of Jessie Leonard Chew and Susannah Tatem Wood) on 14 Dec 1893. Clara Leonard Chew was born on 23 Jun 1869 in Gloucester Co, NJ. She died in 1960. She was buried in Bethel Cemetery. Elwood Benner Thorn Jr. and Clara Leonard Chew had the following children:
