He was a laborer. His obituary stated he was found dead in in a shack on the farm of Leland Clayton in Robertsville. His death record stated he died of exposure and alcoholism. This is a sad commentary on one of our Thorne's. Most of us go on to family and children. However if you note the year of his death, it may be more understandable. This was the depths of the Great Depression). My own grandfather, Charles Calkins Thorne might well have ended this way, were it not for his strong wife & children, as he lost EVERYTHING about this time.
