955. Thomas Elwood Thorne was born on 11 Aug 1822 in Bordentown, Burlington County, NJ. He died in Sep 1913 in Philadelphia, PA. OBITUARY:

"Many prominent Philadelphians attended the funeral of THOMAS ELWOOD THORN, a widely known real estate dealer, which was held today from the home, 1615 North 19th Street. Mr. Thorn celebrated his 91st birth anniversary on August 11th, 1913, and until a short time before taken ill attended to the business incident to the large real estate holdings which he had acquired since coming here in the Centennial year."

"Mr. Thorn will be buried in Bordentown, N.J. It was in this quaint New Jersey town that he was born & spent his youth & early manhood on the large estate, where Joseph Bonaparte, a brother of Emperor Napoleon I, lived several years of his exile."

"Mr. Thorn often recalled that it must have been a pleasant exile, as there was slight indication that the expatriated king of Spain was in any fear of his life. Numerous underground tunnel can still be seen in the mammoth park, which at the time of Mr. Thorn's youth were cleverly concealed by handsome & rare plants & flowers imported from France & other foreign countries."

"Mr. Thorn was in possession of his faculties up to the time of his fatal illness, & displayed that remarkable business acumen which made him a notable figure in the real estate world of Philadelphia during the past quarter of a century. The years dealt lightly with him & he retained a hold on current topics which his increasing years failed to lessen. He is survived by a son & 2 daughters."

Catherine Ross (daughter of David Ross and Janet Clark) was born on 10 Jul 1829. She died on 24 Mar 1898. Thomas Elwood Thorne and Catherine Ross had the following children:
