2872. Oliver J. Thorne was born on 24 Feb 1859 in Wayne Co, IN. He died on 26 Jul 1929 in Weiser, Washington Co., ID. Oliver J. Thorne died of apoplexy or a stroke. This per his Idaho State death certificate. He was buried on 28 Jul 1929 in Midvale, ID. He was Quaker. Philip V. Thorne Notes:

In 1917 Oliver J Thorne was a Member of the Idaho State Legislature. He was 70 years 5 months & 2 days of age at death. They supposedly had no surviving kids, all having died in infancy. But, as of yet, I have not confirmed that. Ivy F. Thorne-Wicker, tells me that she thinks Oliver had twins that both died young.

Oliver's middle name was undoubtedly JONES. Father Jonathan,s, Mother Cornelia Jones, had a younger Brother Oliver Jones, who died young. He is probably named after Jonathan's Uncle.

Oliver & Nannie lived in/near Weiser, Washington County, Idaho.

He was married to Nannie M. Mead on 19 May 1890 in Zearing, Story, IA. Oliver J. Thorne and Nannie M. Mead had the following children:

3696 ii. twin Thorne was born in Midvale, ID?. He (or she) died in Midvale, ID?. Died in forest while taking refuge under a large tree. Lightning hit tree & was killed when it or branches collapsed on him/her. My Father used to tell a store about a Thorne relative in OR., who had died while sleeping in the forest. He had said that during the night a tree had fallen on HIM & that a broken branch had impaled him thru the chest. As a result I was told when sleeping in a forest to lay close to a tree trunk for some degree of protection. These stories have some origin some where, so there must be some element of actual events in them.
