He was buried on 9 Nov 1899 in Walla Walla, WA. Daniel is buried with 1 son at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 So. 2nd St., Walla Walla, WA. His Parents, his 2 younger sisters & his son, Virgil, are with him. He was Quaker. Daniel died about age 42; one story has that he died from a fall sustained while riding a horse; yet his descendants say that he died from a lingering illness.

He was married to Elizabeth Ann Carl (daughter of Daniel Carl and Ruth Barnard) on 10 Mar 1881 in Story Co., IA. Elizabeth Ann Carl was born on 25 Jan 1859 in Muscatine, IA. I don't where I got DOB from but They were mrd 10 Mar 1881 This is from my Great Granddad's Journal! Her correct BD is 25 Jan 1859!! She died on 20 Sep 1947 in Haines, OR. Jim Thorne's burial plot listing for this cemetery has a date of the 20th not the 23rd. Probably died on the 20th & was buried on the 23rd. She was buried on 23 Sep 1947 in Mountain View Cemetery, Walla Walla, WA. Philip V. Thorne Notes:

She was remarried to a Stemper. In James papers regarding, Thorne Plot at Mountain View, She is buried next to Daniel W. but her name is shown as Thorne-Stemper. Also her BD of 1888 can't be right. First child born 4 years before her??

26 April 1993 - Per Virginia Roberts, a Pendelton genealogist, Elizabeth married as her 2nd husband, Virginia's great uncle. He was Henry W Stemper. Daniel William Thorne and Elizabeth Ann Carl had the following children:

3691 iii. Virgil C. Thorne was born in 1889 in Pendleton, Umatilla County, OR. He died on 5 Mar 1905 in Pendleton, Umatilla County, OR. He was buried about 7 Mar 1905 in Walla Walla, WA. Virgil died at age 16 he is buried with his Father Daniel in Pendelton. Jim Thorne's burial listing shows Virgil being buried 16 Feb 1905.
