592. Charles Haines Thorne was born on 23 Aug 1811 in Waterford Twp., Gloucester, NJ (now Camden Co.). He was buried in Nov 1849 in Sassafras Friend's Buirial Ground, Philadelphia, PA. He died on 3 Nov 1849 in Philadelphia, PA. Charles Haines Thorn died of a mysterious illness that a series of doctors was unable to treat. An autopsy was performed & the entire length of his spinal cord was found diseased. By trade he was a painter & glazer, that would account for the strange illness.

He was married to Harriet Gillingham (daughter of Jonathan Gillingham and Phebe Ware) on 5 Feb 1833 in Philadelphia, PA. Harriet Gillingham was born on 14 Oct 1814 in Philadelphia, PA. She died on 19 Feb 1901 in Philadelphia, PA. Harriet died the same day as her oldest son, Edgar. Charles Haines Thorne and Harriet Gillingham had the following children:
