4551. Edmund Henry Thorne was born on 31 Mar 1905 in Wethersfield, Wyoming Co., NY. He died in 1980/81. Ed began his career as a science teacher & high school principal at Comstock Park, Michigan. He was Superintendent of Schools in South Lyon, Rockford, Michigan & West Hartford, Conn. Before moving to Conn., He served as Associate Prof. of Education at Michigan State & was Assistant Superintendant of Schools in Lansing. For many summers He taught School Admin in colleges & universities, including Michigan U., Conneticut U. & Harvard U. After retiring from the superintendancy in West Hartford, He accepted a position at Central Conneticut State College as Dean of the School of Education. He has 3 earned degrees from the University of Michigan; BS in Education, MA & PhD. He has been a member & officer of several honoary socities & professional organizations as well as civic activities. He is listed in the "Whos Who in America" & other biographical references.

Edmund H. Thorne & his 2nd Wife Dorothy were the compilers of the ZADOC THORNE Family History.

He was married to E. Marie Bettes (daughter of Roy Bettes and Flossie) on 20 Aug 1929 in Burdicksville, MI. E. Marie Bettes was born on 14 Feb 1906 in Grand Rapids, MI. She died on 17 Nov 1970 in Hartford, CT. Hartford Hospital died from cancer. Edmund Henry Thorne and E. Marie Bettes had the following children:

He was married to Dorothy Louise Nelson (daughter of Axel Nelson and Alma Swenson) on 10 Feb 1972.
