656. Thomas H. Thorn was born on 10 Jul 1766 in Burlington County, NJ. He died in Virginia?. This Thomas Thorne was disowned from the Religous Society of Friends for participation in the Revolutionary War. He was an Aide to George Washington & led the forces across the Delaware River & destroyed the Hessian Army.

IT IS THIS THOMAS THORNE & HIS WIFE REBECCA STEWART/STUART (HAVE SEEN BOTH SPELLINGS) WHO ARE THE PROGENITORS OF THE VIRGINA/ WEST VIRGINA THORNS.

ALL OF THE WIRT COUNTY, WEST VIRGINA THORNS SEEM TO TRACE THEIR ANCESTRY, BACK TO HIM THRU HIS SON THOMAS; HIS SON MICHAEL, ALSO, HAD CHIDREN IN WIRT COUNTY BUT IS SAID TO HAVE DIED IN ARKANSAS. THERE IS A LARGE GROUP OF THORN/E'S IN ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI & ARKANSAS ETC THAT MAY TRACE THEIR LINE BACK TO WILLIAM THRU MICHAEL & SARAH (SURNAME
UNKNOWN).

Thomas Thorn's brother, James, was married to Ruth Harrison, could this be part of the link that led these New Jersey Thornes to Virgina????

The 1850 Census of Wirt County, West VA, shows Michael Thorne & Sarah plus Thomas Thorne & Mary (Jones) Michaels wife Sarah is shown as 56 years with a birthplace of PA. Their oldest child Elizabeth is age 20 with a bp of VA; Thomas Thorn's wife MAry is shown as age 53 with her birth as Virginia Their oldest child is also age 20 with a bp of Virginia. Therefore they were at Thorn's Run, Wirt County, before 1830!!

He was married to Rebecca Steward (daughter of William Steward and Rebecca Taylor) on 25 Sep 1785. Verify marriage date, I havwe conflict!! Rebecca Steward was born on 25 Sep 1765. Thomas H. Thorn and Rebecca Steward had the following children:
