721. James Thorne was born in 1784 in near New Windsor, Orange Co, NY. He died on 8 Jan 1859 in Brooklyn, Kings Co, NY. His residence was 70 W. Baltic St., Brooklyn, NY. He was buried in Marlboro, Ulster Co, NY. James Thorne, his brother John and their brother-in-law, John Buckley, operated a large textile mill in Marlboro, NY from 1822 to 1830. It was called THORNES & BUCKLEY. After this James Thorne moved to NYC and worked for the Customs Service until his death.

He was married to Phebe Townsend (daughter of Solomon Townsend and Anne Townsend) on 26 Jun 1817 in New York. Phebe Townsend was buried in Indian Hill Cemetery, Middletown, CT. buried here as son Robert Townsend was a clergyman there. James Thorne and Phebe Townsend had the following children:
