I remember when we still lived in the old house, he came home from teaching,
and about all I can remember was him taking Pepto-Bismal and Milk of Magnesia.
I crawled up on the bench behind the table and watched him. I loved the color
of both of the bottles and to this day, pink and blue are my favorite colors.
I still have the birthday card he sent me when I was three. Isaw him just three
times after that. I liked him so much. He was married to Margaret Hyde Gates
(daughter of Arthur William Gates and
Verna Hyde) on 3 Sep 1932. Margaret Hyde Gates
was born on 21 Jan 1909 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, UT. She died on 28 Jul
1995 in Sierra Health Care, Davis, CA. She was buried in Buried at Oakmont Cemetery.

Margaret G. Dotson died on July 28, 1995 at Sierra Health Care in Davis (CA).
She was 86. She was born on Jan. 21, 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and lived
in Piedmont from 1927 to 1967. She then moved to Walnut Creek where she lived
until she moved to Davis in 1992. She was a member of the Lakeview Club of Oakland
and the Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek. She enjoyed traveling and
she traveled extensively through the United States and Europe. She is survived
by her children, Carol Nies and her husband Howard of Woodland, Mary Kirk and
her husband Dennis of Temecula; her grandchildren Margaret Kerkhove and her husband
Anton of Reno, Nev., Richard Nies and his wife Jennifer of San Anselmo, Randy
Kirk of Placentia, and Duane Kirk and his wife Jill of Garden Grove; her great-grandchildren,
Sydney and Victoria Kerkhove, and Paul Kir, and her sister-in-law, Mary Gates
of San Leandro. Friends are invited to attend service at 11 a.m. Saturday at
the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. Davis. Visitation will be held Friday from
6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Oakmont
Cemetery in Lafayette. Donations may be made in her name to the Diabetes Association.
