EIGHTH GENERATION

1561. Sarah Collins Pine was born on 22 Jul 1847 in New Jersey. She died on 15 Oct 1929. Sarah Collins Pine, oldest of the children of W. Allen and Elizabeth B. Pine, was born in New Jersey, and was twenty-one years old when she went with her parents to Lawrence, Kansas, to live. She was given the name of her great-grandmother, Sarah, wife of Samuel Thorn, and was called familiarly by her nickname. About twelve years after removing to Kansas,
Sallie was married, January 17th, 1880, to Glendora Hughes who was also of a New Jersey family. Glendora Hughes and his wife have lived most of their married life in Lawrence, although for intervals of short duration, they have resided at several different localities, but all within the state of Kansas. At one time they spent two years at the village of Hutchinson, thirty-three miles west of Newton and forty-five miles northwest of Wichita, in Reno County in the southern part of the state. At another time they were at Nicherson on the Arkansas River, about forty-two miles west from Newton, where they remained but a little while, returning in the interim to Lawrence. Again they spent about three or four years on a ranch near the far western boundary of Kansas, in Hamilton County, which borders on the confines of Colorado. In 1901, Glendora Hughes lives in North Lawrence, in close proximity to the Kansas Pacific
Railread Depot, and not very far distant from the bank of the Kansas River. He is employed in the provision store of Isaac Hughes on the chief thoroughfare of the town leading over the bridge into South Lawrence. Glendora and Sallie Hughes have had four children, two dying in early childhood. Percy, the youngest son, from his second year has been sadly distressed victim of asthma.

She was married to Glendora C. Hughes on 17 Jan 1880 in Philadelphia, PA. Sarah Collins Pine and Glendora C. Hughes had the following children:

2279 iii. William Allen Hughes was born on 22 Sep 1888. He died on 8 Aug 1891.
