True name was John Henry, but he was called Henry. He was a farmer, carpenter & Methodist Clergyman. With his 2nd Wife , a nurse, they ran the Thorne Nursing Home, until his death.

He was married to Martha Gifford (daughter of Gifford) on 1 Jul 1875 in Wilson, NY. Martha Gifford was born on 26 Feb 1855 in Hartland, Niagra Co, NY. She was buried in Apr 1904 in Walker Road Cemetery, Kent Co., MI. She died on 2 Apr 1904 in Kent Co., MI. Sister of Fidelia Gifford. Rev. John Henry Thorne and Martha Gifford had the following children:

3756 vi. Zoe Thorne was born in 1888 in Wilson, NY. She died in 1934 in Grand Rapids, MI. Never married. She was a stenographer in the Grand Rapids office of The National Biscuit Company. She had a beautiful singing voice & led the Congration in singing without accompaniment, in the Free Methodist Church.

He was married to Ethel Rhineheart on 26 Feb 1926.
