Gerri died of cancer (liver?) She was buried on 4 Apr 1996 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA. Philip V. Thorne Notes:

My Aunt Gerry is a very special Lady, She more than anyone else has strived to keep the Family History alive. Gerri, more than any of us is proud Her THORNE Heritage. For years, long before any of us, she spent an enormous amount of time, energy, & money to keep Family History interest alive. Gerri has won , I believe, 2 International Poetry Awards. She writes her poetry under the name of GERALDYNE THORNE. Gerri , like most of the Family, is intelligent, sensitive, tender & very caring. She loves gardening, birds, fish, & most things outdoors. A very energetic woman & I'll conclude that She is a Credit to the THORNE FAMILY NAME.

She was married to Melville David Holbrook on 24 Dec 1935 in North Platte, Lincoln County, NE. Geraldine Mae Thorne and Melville David Holbrook had the following children:
